About the Calculateur d’Âge
Chronological age is not as simple as subtracting birth year from current year. Differences in month lengths (28, 29, 30, or 31 days) and leap years every four years require exact calendar borrowing rules. This calculator computes your exact age in years, months, and days based on the universal Western Gregorian calendar system.
How to Use This Calculator
- 1Select your Date of Birth using the calendar picker (Month, Day, Year).
- 2Select the target date under "Age at the Date of" (defaults to the current date, or choose a future date for milestone planning).
- 3Click Calculate or change dates to instantly view your age breakdown in years, months, and days.
- 4Review the comprehensive total units summary showing total months, total weeks, total days lived, and countdown days until your next birthday.
Formula & Calculation Methodology
Worked Example: Milestone Age Calculation with Leap Year
Scenario: Calculate exact age for a person born on February 29, 2000 (a leap year) evaluated on October 3, 2026.
Assumptions & Practical Limitations
- Uses the standard Gregorian calendar system adopted in 1582. Most modern official documents follow this standard.
- In some East Asian cultures (such as traditional Korean age), individuals are considered 1 year old at birth and gain a year on New Year’s Day. This tool calculates standard international chronological age.
- For individuals born on February 29 (leap day), common legal convention in non-leap years considers March 1 the legal birthday.
