About the Calculadora Científica

Our responsive online scientific calculator provides researchers, students, and engineers with an intuitive scientific keypad. Built with a safe, sandboxed mathematical expression parser (strictly avoiding eval), it supports standard arithmetic, trigonometric functions, inverse trigonometry, logarithms, exponentiation, factorials, and physical constants with instant Deg/Rad switching.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. 1Toggle between DEG (Degrees) and RAD (Radians) modes at the top-left based on whether you are working in geometry/navigation (Degrees) or calculus/physics (Radians).
  2. 2Enter expressions using the scientific keypad or direct keyboard input.
  3. 3Trigonometric functions: click sin, cos, tan, or their inverse arc functions (asin, acos, atan).
  4. 4Logarithmic & Exponential: click ln for natural log (base e), log for common log (base 10), e^x, or 10^x.
  5. 5Powers & Roots: use x^y, x², or √ (square root). Compute factorials with the x! button.
  6. 6Memory functions: store numbers using M+ or M-, recall with MR, and clear memory with MC.

Formula & Calculation Methodology

Mathematical definitions supported: • Trigonometry: sin(θ), cos(θ), tan(θ) in degrees or radians • Inverse Trig: arcsin, arccos, arctan returning angles in chosen unit mode • Natural Logarithm: ln(x) = log_e(x) where e ≈ 2.718281828 • Common Logarithm: log(x) = log_10(x) • Factorial: n! = n × (n - 1) × (n - 2) × ... × 1 (for non-negative integers) • Constants: π ≈ 3.1415926535, e ≈ 2.7182818284

Worked Example: Trigonometric & Exponential Calculation

Scenario: Evaluate the hypotenuse equation and phase angle: compute √(3² + 4²) and tan⁻¹(4 / 3) in degrees.

Step 1: Compute Vector Magnitude: sqrt(3^2 + 4^2) = sqrt(9 + 16) = sqrt(25)
5.000
Step 2: Compute Arc Tangent in Degree Mode: atan(4 / 3) with DEG mode active = atan(1.33333)
53.130°
Step 3: Verification with Sine: sin(53.1301°) × 5
4.000
Conclusion: The vector magnitude is 5.0 and the phase angle is 53.13°.

Assumptions & Practical Limitations

  • Trigonometric calculations return values according to the currently active DEG / RAD toggle state.
  • Factorials are computed for non-negative integers up to 170! (beyond which standard 64-bit IEEE 754 floats overflow to Infinity).
  • Division by zero and logarithm of zero/negative numbers output clear mathematical domain errors.
